Jane's Addiction and Blonde Redhead
Jane's Addiction, one of the most influential alternative rock acts in the 90s, and Blonde Redhead, the Indie American group is coming to Israel for a single concert as part of the PIC.NIC music festival. Jane's Addiction was formed in L.A. in the mid-80s by Perry Farrell, and has released two studio albums until their split in 1991. Over the years, the band has reunited several times, and in 2010 got back together to work on new material. Blonde Redhead, a trio, was formed in the 90s by two Italian-Canadian brothers and a Japanese front-lady. Based in New York City they have released eight albums to date. (Tel Aviv Exhibition Grounds, September 1st).

A Land and its Dolls - Israeli Souvenirs and National Identity
The craft of doll making began shortly before the establishment of the State of Israel and reached its peak between the 1950s and the 1970s. The dolls are in fact a varied representation of ethnicities and lifestyles that in themselves convey symbols, values and myths. The craftspeople who made the dolls were born outside of Israel, which is evident in the different techniques and methods used to create the dolls. The dolls were sold as souvenirs for Jewish tourists, capturing a moment in Israeli history in the making. The exhibition seeks to discover how "Israeliness" was conveyed and presented through these dolls (Eretz Israel Museum, Ramat Aviv – until September 30th).

Shades of Dance
16 choreographers were carefully picked to present their work at Shades of Dance 2011. They come from different dance backgrounds and disciplines such as Butoh and neo-classical ballet among others.  Each choreographer, in their own way, will present new and bold interpretations to dance. The works are divided into five programs, each with its own theme (Suzanne Dellal Centre, September 7th-10th).
