Tel Aviv Highlights – July 2011

Opera in the Park
An event that has already become a tradition, each summer the Israeli opera (and occasionally guest operas from around the world) performs a different opera free to the public in the outdoors. This year the Israeli Opera will be performing The Magic Flute by Mozart (you may know it as the opera where "the female solo part reaches impossible high tones"). Be sure to come early and save a spot. And bring a blanket, too. (July 14th, 21:00, Hayarkon Park. Gates open at 19:00.)

Rock Concerts
If you're a rock fan, it turns out that this July is the best month for rock lovers in Tel Aviv. Here are some of the highlights:

The 90's Brit-Pop group is reuniting and coming to Israel for one show (July 1st, 20:30, Tel Aviv, Gane HaTa'arucha).

Paul Simon
Rock n' roll hall of fame inductee and multiple Grammy award winner, Paul Simon, is also coming for one stadium concert (do not get your imagination run wild, this will be a sitting concert). (July 21st, 20:30, Ramat-Gan Stadium).

Keren Ann
This famous French-Israeli export will be performing alongside a 20-piece string orchestra in addition to her regular band. Shlomi Shaban, an Israeli rock singer in his own right, will be a guest on the show (July 11th, 21:00, Tel Aviv Performing Arts center).

World Dance 2011
The Suzanne Dellal Centre sponsors the 2011 World Dance festival, featuring the most exciting dance acts today. Featured acts include companies from Spain, France, U.S.A., among others, as well as famous world dancers Drew Jacoby & Rubinald Pronk (July 11th-28th, Amphi Whol, Yehoshua Park.)
